Ramo Ramen

I’m not a massive fan of fusion restaurants, but Ramo Ramen with their mix of Japanese and Filipino dishes definitely intrigued me. This place has a canteen vibe with friendly service, a great shout for a quick lunch if you are working in the area (Soho and Camden branches). We started with the Prito Pusit which is their lightly battered fried squid, this was delicious and didn’t even need the kewpie mayo. The scotch bonnet chicken wings with maple glazing had a bit of heat, but nothing that should scare you off. Portion wise they keep things very light, which isn’t a bad thing when you want to try a ton of stuff. We opted to share a Ramen and went for the most popular option which is their Oxtail Kare Kare, this is a peanut based ramen with pulled oxtail, Tokyo noodles, pea shoots, shiitake mushrooms, and nori. This is a very rich ramen so not exactly a light bite, but it’s so unusual if you are used to eating more traditional ramen that you can’t help but be impressed by the creativity behind making such a dish. Their ramen menu is quite eclectic so I do hope to try a few more of the dishes since I’m a local.

Price per head: £15 or so per person
