Restaurante Casona del Judío
Restaurante Casona del Judío has a Michelin star and a Green star, and it’s housed in a beautiful listed building that we found out is common to host wedding receptions. On a sunny day in Santander, we made the 40 minute walk from our hotel to this area which in itself was a wonderful part of the day. We were greeted by friendly faces and ushered into a small kitchen where the head chef Sergio Bastard prepared our snacks fresh. It was a great way to start the meal with a glass of champagne and delightful bites of local Cantanbaria cuisine. This tasting menu was a seafood heavy one, which we had no complaints about. The sea croquette with seaweed and a touch of uni was excellent, as was the cured anchovy which they warned us was “very powerful”, served on a delicate biscuit with cream it was heaven. I particularly liked the squid which was plated like art. The desserts were excellent, including the “sea made sweet” which had a frozen pineapple swirl, bits of squid, a wild combination that was super refreshing and oddly light. This is a beautiful venue, service that is swift and perfectly timed, and staff that are smiling and giving off a very welcoming vibe. Top to bottom this was excellent; run don’t walk!
