Galanga par Monsieur George

Galanga is an unassuming restaurant just off the Champs-Élysées inside the Monsieur George Hotel & Spa. A tiny dining room awaits where an absolutely heroic bartender is making some of the most mind altering cocktails. I had a new seasonal one that was a Lychee cocktail with a sage infused armagnac with Yuzu and rose water to finish. An incredibly complicated yet delicious cocktail that gave me confidence in the meal ahead. This is classic fine dining done the French way, staff are polite yet precise, deliver dishes in black gloves, but never make you feel you are in a stuffy establishment. I will say getting the bill took longer than expected but the small team was literally sprinting behind the scenes to keep the meal moving for guests. This meal also had elements of fusion such as using galangal in a few dishes. The chef likes to mix things up with acidity, bitterness which brings depth of flavour to his vegetables. The 5 course set is more than enough food as I was bursting by the end of this one.
