Jang Restaurant

Right in the heart of the City, tucked inside the Royal Exchange on the first floor is where you’ll find Jang Restaurant. Chef Dana Soo will delight you with various cuts of meat BBQ’d the Korean way. This is a solid spot for a business lunch as they do a Jang BBQ that easily feeds 2-3 people. The service is really friendly, the food is delicately prepared, my only gripe was when they brought out the grilled meats which were all cooked, the hot coal plate was not on? The next time I go I really need to ask if it’s supposed to be hot, or is it all for show? Having said that, the duck, beef, and lamb rack were all excellent, as was the Yuk Hwe steak tartare, one of my favourite dishes! I’ll shout out the duck again, not the first thing I think of when I think of Korean food, but they did a great job with the skin and keeping the meat just pink enough. It’s all served with various dipping sauces, as well as a few vegetarian sides like kimchi and a seaweed salad. We still had an appetite so decided to add a Korean doughnut to the mix, very satisfying with the caramel ice cream. So, if you are in the City and need a quieter business lunch away from the chaos, this is a great shout.
