Den Kushi Flori

If you are one of the few people who read this blog, you know I’ve written about Den and Florige. Both excellent spots, worthy in their own right for a visit; so when I read about a joint venture between the two I had to make the effort to dine here. Den Kushi Flori is exquisite, a true fusion of these restaurants, the French/Japanese hybrid of Florige, with the home cooking of Den. The space is very much like Florige where it’s simply one U shaped counter with the chefs hard at work in the middle. Like Den though, it’s got an easy going attitude with the warmth and hospitality only Japan can provide. The dishes covered everything from seafood wrapped in Chinese cabbage in stock, a traditional fish stew with mashed potatoes, to a clay pot rice with sukiyaki beef.

The staff treated me to both desserts even though I was told I had to choose, but given I was trying to communicate in Japanese, I think my efforts with them paid off. I’d also like to give a shout out to the 4 elderly Japanese women who were on a boozy lunch get together for keeping me company.
