Palmyrah Restaurant

For our first dinner in Colombo, we were recommended Palmyrah Restaurant inside the Renuka hotel. Oddly enough, Renuka was the name of a Sri Lankan girl I went to high school with. Many of my friends were in love with her, me, not so much. Anyways, back to the restaurant. Pack a sweater as this like most places will blast the A/C. What are ya gonna do when the weather is 30+ and humid outside.

We opted for some devilled prawns to start, these bad boys were a great mix of chilli heat and tangy sweetness. I ventured to cut up some of the fried chilli and eat alongside the prawns, which were rather fatty pieces and delicious. For the mains we tried a few things, string hoppers, their famous fried fish pittu, and a quick fry cuttlefish curry which was delicious. We finished up with an epic Watalapam, a delicious coconut custard dessert. This is a solid start to our food journey in Sri Lanka.
