Fonda

I’m currently sat at a bang average Cantonese dessert place, but I couldn’t wait a moment to do a write up of Fonda. The latest from the MJMK group, the people behind KOL. If the prices of KOL scare you off, this is an amazing Mexican restaurant to indulge in. With no lime used in the kitchen, the tortillas hand milled and cooked every day. This place is epic! I started with a Costra which is their aged beef taco cooked with grilled manchego, I’ll come back to this later as it was delicious, how can anyone say no to grilled cheese on meat? My main was a slight detour though, I opted for the hen woods and oyster mushroom main with corn tortillas which Fonda happily topped me up on. This is prepared like barbacoa so the vegetables get the meat treatment. Served with a trio of unique salsas, it was a very memorable meal. Going back to my earlier point on the Costra though, as I finished my last main tortilla I found myself with a just a little bit of stomach space. So instead of going for dessert, I piled into another Costra, mission complete, incredible meal. Walk don’t run.

Price per head: £70 per person with a margarita
