Kiln

Kiln in Soho is such an underrated spot. With only counter seating on the ground floor, and tiny wooden tables below. The focus of this place is seafood, heat/spice, and clay pots all magically done over an open flame. This is a great option for a quick business lunch or a catch up with friends as though the food can come quick, there is no rush from the very friendly staff to move you along.

Whatever Claypot is in season, be sure to get it as they never disappoint. We got the Tamworth pork belly and brown crab meat. The noodles had a great bouncy texture as Ann would say, and the fact it’s £7 makes it a bargain! The Soy and chicken, a simple concoction is so flavourful with the perfect bit of flame grilled skin, you’ll be wanting to order two portions. We got lucky that Langoustines were in, as they were perfectly prepared with sliced chilli’s, mint, and lime. A safe statement here would be, these dishes in general are cooked with a ton of finely sliced red chilli, so if you are not good with heat this might not be the place for you. However, if you love a bit of heat, and the fact that Thai cuisine generally balances sweet and sour, this is a worthy place to check out as your taste buds will be in for an assault. Shout out to their eclectic soda collection as well. Ginger beer with turmeric is something I didn’t know I needed in my life, but here we are.

Price per head: £30 with a drink
