Kabuki
I’ve had the most glorious and relaxing time in Tenerife. The sunshine, beach, ocean sounds (too cold to swim!), and incredible food. One such highlight that is right on the compound of the Abama hotel we are staying at is Kabuki. With one Michelin star, an incredible view of the ocean that I demand you take in with a sunset cocktail, this is an incredible spot to get some great Japanese fusion.
We opted for the tasting menu, and since I’m on holiday I also went in on the pairing option which was a mix of wine and sake. The meal starts off with a big enough bang, the small starters all left a mark, however I’ve never had a mutton dumpling! It packed such a flavourful punch that I knew I was in for a treat. The sashimi course was beautifully presented and required no work as all the fish had been perfectly seasoned. The Fatty Tuna and sweet shrimp all went perfectly with my sake, by this point I was really enjoying the switching between alcohols as it kept the entire meal more interesting. The sushi course was a mix of classics and some unusual fare, I’ll let the pictures depict that as its best to simply admire the artistry here. The final course which we all had as an alternative to our Lamb main was the Sukiyaki of Wagyu beef. Spoiler alert I will write about this in a future post about Tokyo, but this Sukiyaki course in a broth of Mushroom was delicious, it was the perfect way to end our meal before going the sweet route.
With incredible service, a bar staff that made off the menu cocktails for Ann and friends, this is a worthy spot to visit if you are in Tenerife. We were well taken care of, and then sent in the Kabuki shuttle back to our hotels to sleep well and dream about all the deliciousness we had experienced.
