Ginza Kagari Main Branch

Tokyo, like I have mentioned before, has the most Michelin star restaurants in the world. Now that may lead you to believe that you need to spend a fortune to eat at such revered places, but that’s not the case. There are a few spots like Ginza Kagari which are incredible and for a minimal price you can have the most delicious chicken based ramen you will ever eat. This 1 michelin star spot has no reservations, so I suggest you get there at opening hours and join the queue of people. We got lucky and were able to head in at their first seating time. I’ll be blunt here, it’s a limited menu so just do yourself a favour and get the chicken ramen, don’t get fancy and opt for the truffle option, just get the straight chicken ramen!! Now, if you do fancy some truffle, you can get yourself a small portion of chicken, rice, and truffle, which is a great starter. As my brother often tells me, there is something really special about a restaurant that simply focuses on very few dishes, or in some cases just ONE dish. This seems to be standard in Japan, restaurants that have such a focus, but where the output is extraordinary. Do yourself a favour and try this ramen. You won’t regret it, though all the ramen you have afterwards may be a crippling disappointment.

Price per head: £15
