Frenchie
Romance and speed, hmm I should probably phrase that differently. Frenchie is an excellent spot for romance given its cozy interior, candle lit dining space, and is best described as a “modern french brasserie”….by it’s owner. Perfectly situated in the theatre district, we popped here for dinner after seeing the brilliant Back to the future musical
Now you could settle for a set menu, but the more interesting items are on the A la carte side. We opted for the wild mushroom tart with sherry and coffee, and the sea bream tartare. Both decisions came out looking like works of art, but thankfully they tasted even better. The wild mushroom in particular was good, who knew coffee and sherry coupled with red currant could mix so well with mushrooms. For the mains, I went full vegetarian and had the pumpkin agnolotti with green shiso. This came with a very rich Stilton cheese sauce and this odd combination worked perfectly. Ann opted for the brioche stuffed chicken breast which was equally amazing. Again, I always think that ordering chicken at a restaurant is a waste, but this one was excellent.
This is a great date spot, friendly service with an intimate yet relaxed setting. If you want to impress that special someone, give it a go. Maybe see a show after, I can definitely recommend one.
