Lyon’s Seafood Restaurant & Wine Bar
We’ve been trying to eat at Lyon’s for years now, everyone we know in our area keeps telling us we have to go. So after many false starts we finally made it out. For starters this place is based in Crouch End, not the most convenient location but it’s such a cute little area that it warrants a visit just to walk all the small independent shops.
Lyon’s focuses on seasonal produce with particular attention on seafood. We started with the oysters which were delicious, a homemade chilli vinaigrette was provided and it was amazing, had some serious punch! The Mussel escabeche toast and Salt Cod beignet are also must try. Seafood is king here and these snacks and starters were a perfect set up for the mains. Lyon’s is famous for their Tandoori Monk Fish, we had 400grams of it which is the smallest they can do, now I’ll admit this was perfectly prepared on the bone and had a real zing with the tandoori spice, however they also put over top a sweet chutney glaze which to me was one too many flavours. Sometimes you just wanna taste the deliciousness of the Monk Fish. Having said that, it’s such a uniquely prepared fish that you must try it. We had this with a side of perfectly charred broccoli with a anchovy mayonnaise. We opted for one of their specials which was Argentinian Red Prawns. These bay boys were massive, this is the type of dish you order with a side of bread to soak up all those delicious prawn juices.
Lyon’s is a great seafood shout, I wasn’t sold on the Monkfish but everything else was solid and the service is super attentive and friendly.
